Do quantum strategies always win?
In a seminal paper, Meyer[1] described the advantages of quantum game theory by looking at the classical penny flip game. A player using quantum strategy can win against a classical player almost 100% of the time. Here we make a slight modification of the quantum game, with the two players sharing an entangled state to begin with. We then analyse two different scenarios, one in which the quantu...
متن کاملWhy Do Courts Delay?
Answering one question often begets another. We present a decision-theoretic model that describes how this dynamic sequences decisions over time. Because answering an easy question may raise a more difficult one, a rational decision-maker may delay resolution even if he has perfect information about the correct decision. Furthermore, because otherwise unrelated questions may raise similar follo...

For each study, in order to isolate bidders' desire to win the item from bidders’ desire to simply win the auction, we constructed survey experiments with participants divided into two groups. Both groups bid on a certificate that could be exchanged for an attra...

We briefly survey the economics literatures that relate to law and entrepreneurship, including the "law and finance" literature launched by the work of Rafael La Porta, Florencio Lopez-de-Silanes, Andrei Shleifer, and Robert Vishny ("LLSV"). Relying on the suggestive work of LLSV and other economists who have labored over the connections between entrepreneurship and law, we suspect that courts ...
متن کاملWhen do simple policies win?
We present a simple model of a debate between two interested parties which takes into account the complexity of their policy positions. The two debaters engage in all-pay-auctions to win slots of time/attention to present their positions to a decision maker. Complexity of a policy is modelled through the number of slots of attention needed to get the policy across. We show that when the number ...
